What is the PTO?
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of parents, teachers, staff, and community members who work together to support the students, staff, and programs at Pee Dee Elementary School. Our goal is to strengthen the connection between home and school while creating opportunities that help our Busy Bees succeed.
What does the PTO do?
The PTO organizes and supports a variety of activities throughout the school year, including family events, student programs, teacher appreciation initiatives, fundraising efforts, school improvement projects, and classroom support. We work to enhance the educational experience and build a strong school community.
Who can join the PTO?
Everyone is welcome to join the Pee Dee Elementary School PTO! Parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, staff members, and community supporters who want to make a positive impact on our school are encouraged to get involved. Whether you can volunteer regularly or simply attend a meeting or event when your schedule allows, there’s a place for everyone in our Busy Bee family! 💛🖤🐝
How can I get involved?
There are many ways to get involved! You can attend PTO meetings, volunteer at events, join a committee, help with fundraising efforts, sponsor a PTO activity, or simply stay informed and support our initiatives. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Do I have to volunteer a lot of time?
Not at all! We understand that families have busy schedules. You can choose a level of involvement that works best for you. Whether you volunteer for a single event, attend occasional meetings, or support from home, your participation is appreciated.
How does the PTO raise money?
The PTO raises funds through school fundraisers, spirit nights, sponsorships from local businesses, donations, special events, and other community-supported activities. These efforts help provide additional resources and opportunities for our students and staff.
How are PTO funds used?
PTO funds are used to support student enrichment programs, teacher appreciation activities, classroom resources, family engagement events, school improvement projects, student recognition programs, and other initiatives that directly benefit the Pee Dee Elementary community.
When and where does the PTO meet?
PTO meetings are held regularly throughout the school year—typically in the school cafeteria or library. Dates and times are posted on our website, newsletters, and social media. Everyone is welcome to attend!
How do I stay informed about PTO activities?
You can stay up-to-date through our monthly newsletter, our Facebook page, school flyers, our events calendar, and our website. We also send out email updates to keep you in the loop if you have joined our newsletter list.
Can I suggest ideas or give feedback?
Absolutely! We welcome ideas, suggestions, and feedback from all families, teachers, staff members, and community supporters. Sharing your thoughts helps us better serve our school and create programs that meet the needs of our Busy Bees.
Is the PTO the same as a PTA?
While both organizations support schools and students, they are different. A PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) operates independently at the local school level, while a PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is part of a larger national and state organization. Both share the common goal of supporting education and student success.
Who leads the PTO?
The PTO is led by an elected board of volunteer parents and teachers who serve as officers. Positions typically include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Committee Chairs. You can see the currently elected Board of Directors here – Leadership
